The Montana Taxidermist

About Us

My name is Bruce Babcock and together with my wife Trisha, we started our taxidermy business in Kalispell, MT in 1972. We named the business The Montana Taxidermist because I am a fourth generation Montanan and proud of where I am from.

We are strictly mammal taxidermists and do not mount fish, birds or handle tan only hides. Our goals are to offer the best quality taxidermy in a reasonable amount of time. We used the very best tanning and materials that are available today and are very receptive to trying new materials as they become available to try to improve our product.

In all the years of full time taxidermy we have learned that next to quality, completion time is very important. We control our work intake to accomplish a good turn around time. Taxidermy is generally understood to take up to one year processing time.

The reason for this is all the work comes in at one time so tanners are backed up which slows the process and then mounts are processed on a first come –first served basis. Our early season mounts are usually completed in 4 to 6 months and late season mounts usually in 6-12 months. These completion times are well ahead of most commercial shops.

We have had vast experience on North American animals and have mounted most everything from Africa, Asia and New Zealand that hunters pursue.

We have entered taxidermy competitions for many years in an effort to improve our quality. We have won best of show and best game head in National competitions and many best of category and blue ribbons in masters division in Montana competitions.
